A Sussex police officer had some extra help when a suspect ran off into some fields last weekend in Bognor.
A Doberman called Layla who was being taken for a walk by her owner stepped in with perfect timing to help catch the suspect.
Pc Ross Wickings and his colleague stopped a car which was being driven erratically in Harold Close, Bognor. All four people in the vehicle were searched and a quantity of cash and cannabis was found on Sunday 20 May.
One of the suspects then ran off and PC Wickings pursued him across a field. Two-year-old Layla the Doberman then came out of a nearby bush and ran straight for the suspect, who promptly stopped and was then arrested.
PC Wickings said: “I thanked the man who was with Layla in the field as her timing was fantastic and she helped me to detain the suspect.”
